Watermelon consumption advice and cucumber leaf curling guidance

Frequent consumption of watermelon can be refreshing and provide vitamins, minerals and antioxidants such as lycopene and citrulline, which support hydration, kidney function and blood‑pressure regulation. However, some individuals may experience allergic reactions ranging from mild itching and stomach upset to severe anaphylaxis. Allergy testing and awareness of cross‑reactions (e.g., with ragweed) are recommended, and those affected should avoid both watermelon and similar fruits.

Cucumber plants may develop twisted or curled leaves, a symptom often triggered by high summer temperatures, insufficient watering, or soil stress. Common causes include heat stress, leaf‑hopper infestations, viral infections, and nutrient deficiencies—especially potassium, magnesium or excess nitrogen. Effective measures involve regular irrigation during cooler parts of the day, mulching to retain soil moisture, inspecting for pests and applying natural controls, and correcting soil nutrition through balanced fertilisation.
