Wave expands fintech presence in Senegal and Burkina Faso

Fintech company Wave is expanding its footprint and digital service integration across West Africa. In Senegal, Telecommunications and Digital Minister Samba Diouf met with Wave executives to discuss the company’s growth model and potential collaboration with the public sector. The discussions focused on digitizing priority areas such as transport, health, and the treasury to improve citizen access to services.

In Burkina Faso, Wave has officially opened a premium agency in Dédougou, located in the city’s central market. The new physical location aims to increase the accessibility of digital financial services for local economic actors and residents. This expansion follows Wave’s entry into the Burkina Faso market in 2021 as part of its broader strategy to promote financial inclusion through mobile money.
