Wavve documentary ‘Predators’ exposes cyber wrecker tactics

The Wavve original documentary ‘Predators: Cyber Wreckers, Records of War’ has gained significant traction, ranking first in the current affairs genre and second in new paid subscriptions on its launch day. The program investigates the methods used by ‘cyber wreckers’—content creators who profit from spreading rumors and attacking the private lives of others.

The documentary features testimonies from several high-profile victims. Journalist Kang Kyung-yoon, known for her reporting on the Burning Sun scandal, detailed the psychological distress and legal difficulties she faced due to malicious false information. Businessman Eun Hyun-jang also shared how targeted attacks led to the collapse of his 10-billion-won revenue company and forced him to halt his YouTube activities.

Additionally, the film reveals new details regarding singer Kim Gun-mo, who was targeted by false sexual misconduct allegations in 2019. Following a long investigation, Kim was cleared of all charges in 2022. Police officials noted that Kim acted as a whistleblower, reporting at least 12 other victims, including celebrities, athletes, and entrepreneurs, who had been targeted by these online groups.
