Wawel SA reports increased profits despite revenue decline
Wawel SA has reported improved profitability in the first half of 2026, despite a decline in overall revenue. The confectionery producer saw revenues fall to 302.4 million PLN compared to 328.1 million PLN in the previous year, but operating profit rose significantly to 42.2 million PLN. Net profit from continuing operations reached 41.8 million PLN.
The financial results follow a period of tension between Wawel and the discount retailer Biedronka. In March 2026, Jeronimo Martins Polska SA terminated its sales agreement with Wawel, a contract that accounts for approximately 20 percent of the producer's annual sales. Following negotiations, Biedronka withdrew the termination notice in late July, and an annex to the agreement was signed to ensure the return of Wawel products to store shelves.
