Waxing Crescent Moon brightens over June 18‑19 as illumination climbs

The Moon entered a waxing crescent phase on June 18, with about 23 % of its disc illuminated. By the following night, June 19, illumination increased to roughly 33 %, making the crescent more noticeable to the naked eye. Observers can spot lunar features such as the Mares Fecunditatis, Crisium and, with binoculars, the Endymion Crater. The next full Moon is scheduled for June 29.

These daily lunar updates are part of the regular lunar cycle, during which the Moon completes an orbit around Earth every 29.5 days, moving through eight recognized phases.
