Wayland compositors xfwl4 and MangoWM receive new updates
Several updates have been released for Wayland-based compositors in the open-source community. Brian Tarricone has announced the second preview release of xfwl4, version 4.21.1, which serves as the Wayland compositor for Xfce. This release includes various bug fixes and new features based on user feedback, though users are advised to check specific runtime dependencies to ensure full functionality.
Separately, the Mango Wayland Compositor (MangoWM) has reached version 0.16.0. This update introduces native touch input support, making it more viable for touchscreen devices and 2-in-1 laptops. Other notable improvements in MangoWM include enhanced XWayland scaling to prevent blurriness, the implementation of the xdg_activation_v1 protocol to prevent focus stealing, and fixes for stability issues occurring after system suspend. The project, which follows a minimalist design philosophy, is available on distributions such as Arch and NixOS.
