Wayne Rooney criticizes Manchester United players and leadership

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has issued a scathing critique of the current squad following a 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como. Speaking on The United Stand podcast, Rooney described the players as “selfish” and accused them of prioritizing themselves over teammates, staff, and fans.

Rooney specifically targeted captain Bruno Fernandes, noting that Fernandes’ public criticism of manager Michael Carrick’s tactics is an attempt to deflect from his own poor form. He also suggested that recent comments from defender Lisandro Martínez regarding a lack of new signings acted as a catalyst for current dressing room instability.

Comparing the players to “babies” who “throw their toys out of the pram” when they do not get their way, Rooney warned that the squad is failing to take collective responsibility on the pitch.
