Wayne Rooney denies Andy Carroll’s autobiography claims

Former England striker Andy Carroll has made claims in his new autobiography, ‘Owning It’, regarding the conduct of teammates during the 2010–2011 period under manager Fabio Capello. Carroll alleges that Wayne Rooney would host informal gatherings in his hotel room involving beer, wine, and cigarettes to break the monotony of international training camps.

Carroll described Rooney as a ‘very, very fun’ person who would invite players to his room to socialize. He also noted internal tensions within the ‘Golden Generation’ squad, claiming players were divided along regional lines between those from northern and southern clubs.

Wayne Rooney has categorically denied these allegations, calling them a ‘complete fabrication’. Rooney stated that he and Carroll were not close and had only met incidentally during a holiday, asserting that the claims regarding his behavior during England camp duty are untrue.
