Wayne Toups Wins Year of Free Michelob Ultra After Tagged Redfish Catch

Wayne Toups, a fisherman from Delcambre, Louisiana, caught a redfish with a special blue tag during the 2026 CCA Louisiana STAR tournament in Vermilion Bay. The blue tag entitles the winner to a case of Michelob Ultra beer each week for a year.

Tournament director Micah Denesse said Toups first thought the tag was a standard yellow T‑shirt tag before noticing the blue color. The tournament releases tagged redfish along the Louisiana coast, offering more than $750,000 in prizes—including boats, trucks and RVs—and runs through Labor Day.
