Waze adds AI‑driven Motorcycle Mode, less‑chatty voice and Gemini-powered features

Waze released a major update that introduces a dedicated Motorcycle Mode powered by Google’s Gemini AI. The mode calculates routes suited to two‑wheelers, taking narrow streets and vehicle‑specific restrictions into account, and provides hazard alerts for potholes, speed bumps, elevated crosswalks, road‑shoulder ends and narrow bridges. It is available in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru and the Philippines on Android and iOS.

The update also adds a “Less Chatty” voice setting that reduces the frequency of spoken directions, keeping only critical safety prompts. Personalized navigation now learns from a driver’s past trips and local traffic patterns to suggest preferred routes, such as highways over local streets. Gemini AI expands into natural‑language destination search and Conversational Reporting, letting users ask for nearby cafés, cheap fuel stations or report incidents and map changes by voice. The destination‑search feature is rolling out to Waze beta users globally, while the other AI‑driven tools are being phased in across the supported markets.
