Waze integrates Google Gemini AI for personalized navigation

Google is introducing new artificial intelligence features to its Waze navigation application. Powered by the Gemini AI assistant, these updates allow users to report traffic updates through conversational interfaces and receive personalized navigation.

The new personalization capabilities suggest routes based on a user's driving history and local traffic patterns, such as prioritizing highways over local streets if that is a user's preference. Additionally, users can utilize Gemini via voice search to find specific destinations or services, such as open cafes, nearby parking, or gas stations with lower prices. These features are being rolled out globally for Android and iOS, with some Gemini-powered destination finding capabilities currently in beta testing.
