Waze adds AI‑driven personalized navigation and dedicated motorcycle mode
Google’s Waze navigation app has begun rolling out a suite of new features aimed at tailoring routes to individual drivers. The update introduces personalized ETA and route planning that learns from a user’s past trips, adjusting arrival time estimates and favoring preferred streets while allowing users to disable the settings at any time.
The changes are powered by Google’s Gemini artificial‑intelligence system, enabling voice‑based destination requests such as "find an open café" and providing smarter, context‑aware route suggestions. A less‑talkative mode reduces vocal instructions for drivers who prefer listening to music or podcasts.
A dedicated motorcycle mode, launched in several Latin American and Asian markets, adds safety‑focused routing that considers narrow streets, road surface conditions, potholes and other hazards specific to two‑wheelers. The app also explains the meaning of its colored road overlays, helping users interpret traffic flow and map‑editor classifications.
Despite the enhancements, Waze still lacks the fuel‑efficiency routing option available in Google Maps, which many users have requested.
