WBC Names Agit Kabayel Mandatory Challenger and Awards David Benavidez

The World Boxing Council (WBC) announced that German heavyweight Agit Kabayel has been appointed the mandatory challenger to current champion Oleksandr Usyk. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said, “Agit is the interim WBC champion and the mandatory challenger for Oleksandr Usyk.” Kabayel is unbeaten at 27‑0 with 19 knockouts and a potential title bout is being planned for 2026.

In a separate WBC ceremony, Mexican‑American light‑heavyweight champion David Benavidez received two honors: the “Fighter of the Month” award and a ceremonial belt called the “Tollan Tlatequi” for his recent knockout win over Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez. Benavidez said, “I am not afraid of anyone,” and expressed pride in representing Mexico after the victory.
