Wealth planning priority for millionaires moving to the U.S
As a record number of millionaires are expected to change countries this year, legal experts are advising on the importance of cross-border wealth planning, particularly for those moving from Brazil to the United States.
According to data from New World Wealth reported by The Economist, approximately 165,000 millionaires are projected to relocate this year. For Brazilian millionaires, the United States remains the primary destination.
Legal experts, including Alexandre Piquet of Piquet Law Firm, emphasize that permanent emigration requires more than just residency permits. They recommend implementing cross-border strategies to mitigate risks such as double taxation and to ensure legal and financial security. Additionally, experts suggest incorporating estate planning to align with U.S. laws, noting that U.S. citizens and residents may benefit from estate tax exemptions of up to $15 million.
