Kalshi launches Canadian prediction‑market platform through Wealthsimple
U.S.‑based prediction‑market operator Kalshi is expanding into Canada via a partnership with fintech firm Wealthsimple. The collaboration will introduce a standalone app, Wealthsimple Predict, slated for a summer 2026 launch. The platform will give Canadian retail investors access to roughly 4,000 event‑based contracts covering economic indicators, financial‑market outcomes and climate‑related events.
The Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization approved the offering in March 2026, classifying the contracts as regulated derivatives with a mandatory settlement period of at least 30 days. Wealthsimple becomes the second Canadian dealer authorized to provide such prediction‑market products, following Interactive Brokers. The Canadian version excludes sports and election contracts, adhering to local regulatory limits.
Kalshi’s Canadian rollout coincides with broader regulatory scrutiny in the United States, where the firm faces multiple state lawsuits over sports‑related contracts and a dispute with the CFTC over its crypto perpetual‑futures products. Nonetheless, the launch marks a significant step in bringing regulated prediction‑market investing to the Canadian market.
