Weather alerts issued for Goiás and Bahia in Brazil
Severe weather alerts have been issued for several regions in Brazil, including Goiás and Bahia, due to an advancing cold front and atmospheric instability.
In Goiás, the Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Information (Cimehgo) predicts heavy rain, lightning, and wind gusts of up to 60 km/h. Despite the rain, temperatures are expected to remain high, with Porangatu potentially reaching 39°C and Goiânia reaching 32°C. While the cold front may slightly improve air humidity, levels are expected to remain between 20% and 30%, well below the ideal 60%.
In Bahia, the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has issued alerts for over 120 cities. The warnings include risks of storms with hail, coastal winds, and low humidity. Some areas face rainfall accumulations of up to 50 mm per day. Humidity levels in various municipalities are also expected to fluctuate between 20% and 30%, prompting health recommendations to increase fluid intake and limit sun exposure.
