Romania and Moldova face fluctuating weather and heatwaves

Meteorological reports for Romania and Moldova indicate a period of significant weather fluctuations through September 2026. In Romania, the National Meteorological Administration (ANM) forecasts that autumn will begin with temperatures above normal. While some regions, particularly in the west and southwest, may experience heatwave conditions with temperatures reaching 33–35°C, these will be followed by a cooling trend and increased instability.

Severe weather warnings have been issued for several Romanian counties, including Bacău, Neamț, Iași, and Gorj. These warnings cover risks of thunderstorms, electrical discharges, small hail, and wind gusts ranging from 50 to 90 km/h. In some areas, heavy rainfall of 10–15 l/m² is expected.

In Moldova, the weather is expected to remain generally warm and sunny, with temperatures between 22°C and 29°C. However, hydrological warnings remain in effect for the Nistru and Prut rivers due to low water levels, with some small rivers experiencing critical flow reductions. Authorities have advised the rational use of water resources.
