Severe storms and cold fronts cause widespread damage across Brazil and Mozambique
Severe weather patterns, driven by a cold front, have caused widespread disruption across Brazil and Mozambique. In Brazil, heavy rains and strong winds have triggered numerous incidents, including tree falls, roof damage, and power outages. In the São Paulo metropolitan area, Enel reported over 31,000 customers without electricity, with Embu experiencing the highest number of interruptions. Firefighters in the region recorded 28 tree falls and two landslides. A structure collapse in Campo Limpo Paulista resulted in 24 injuries.
In the Northwest Paulista region, including Votuporanga and Fernandópolis, high winds caused property damage and blocked roads, though no immediate deaths were confirmed. In Patos de Minas, Minas Gerais, a storm damaged the September Moto Fest event, causing the collapse of part of a stage and injuring five people.
In Mozambique, the National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) has forecasted cloudy skies and moderate rain across several provinces, including Tete and Maputo, accompanied by a drop in temperatures.
Additional alerts have been issued for Acre, Goiás, and Rio de Janeiro, where authorities warn of potential storms, lightning, and wind gusts reaching up to 80 km/h.
