Weather and housing updates in Central Java

In Kudus, a tornado accompanied by heavy rain struck Kandangmas Village on Friday evening, causing damage to several homes and a local elementary school. Reports indicate that strong winds dislodged numerous roof tiles across multiple residential areas. Additionally, fallen trees collapsed walls of houses in the RT 01 RW 09 area, with estimated losses reaching 15 million rupiah. Local police, disaster response teams, and volunteers have established a coordination post at the Kandangmas Village Hall to manage recovery efforts. No casualties or injuries were reported.

In Rembang, 17 residents, including salt farmer Masduqi, received improved housing through the Rumah Sederhana Layak Huni (RSLH) program. This initiative is a collaboration between the Rembang Regency Government and PT Djarum to replace substandard homes, such as those with bamboo walls and dirt floors, with more permanent structures. Rembang Regent Harno noted that private sector support is essential to expanding the reach of housing assistance beyond local government budgets.
