Kanto region faces risk of heavy warning-level rainfall
The Kanto and Koshin regions of Japan are under alert for heavy rainfall, potential landslides, flooding, and rising river levels from the night of November 4 through the evening of November 5. A low-pressure system is expected to develop off the Boso Peninsula and move northeast along the coast, fueled by warm, moist air from Typhoon 31 and high-pressure systems to the east.
Meteorologists predict the peak of the rainfall will occur during the morning commute on November 5, with some areas in Kanagawa, Chiba, and Ibaraki potentially experiencing warning-level intensity. Heavy rain accompanied by lightning, strong gusts, and possible hail is expected. In the Ogasawara Islands, high waves are also a concern due to the influence of Typhoon 31, although the typhoon is not expected to make direct landfall on the main island of Honshu.
