Indonesia weather warnings: Extreme weather and landslides cause casualties

Indonesia is experiencing a transition into the rainy season, triggering extreme weather and hydrometeorological disasters across several regions. In Badung, Bali, a landslide at Glamping Pelaga Eco Park has left two people missing, prompting search operations by local SAR teams.

In Dairi, North Sumatra, extreme weather caused a tree to fall on a house, resulting in one death and one injury. Additionally, heavy rainfall caused the Ular River to overflow in Deli Serdang, forcing 51 residents to evacuate. In East Java, BMKG Juanda has issued warnings for 21 regencies and cities regarding potential floods, landslides, and strong winds through November 9.

Other significant impacts include flash floods in Lumajang affecting over 1,400 households and flooding in four districts of Malang. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued widespread warnings for heavy rain, lightning, and high waves across much of the archipelago, advising residents and the aviation sector to remain vigilant.
