Latin America faces severe weather including high winds and heavy rain

Various regions across Latin America are facing significant weather disturbances. In Argentina, Catamarca is under orange and yellow alerts due to high winds, with gusts potentially exceeding 130 km/h in mountainous areas of Antofagasta de la Sierra and Tinogasta. Meanwhile, heavy rains, wind, and hail in Misiones have caused property damage, including roof collapses and fallen power lines, prompting police assistance to affected families.

In Paraguay, a hot and windy day is expected, with temperatures reaching up to 38°C. Strong northern winds could produce gusts between 40 and 90 km/h, increasing the risk of wildfires. Storms are also anticipated in the southern departments of Misiones and Itapúa.

Mexico is experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and potential hail due to the influence of the Mexican monsoon and tropical wave 33. The National Water Commission (Conagua) warns of intense precipitation in several states, including Sonora, Sinaloa, and Veracruz, alongside high temperatures that could reach 45°C. In the Dominican Republic, a tropical wave is expected to bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to several provinces.

In the Caribbean, authorities are monitoring a tropical wave with a low probability of becoming a cyclone, which may bring heavy rains to the northeast and north of the region.
