Metro de Madrid Line 6 service suspended for automation works

Metro de Madrid has announced a service suspension on Line 6 between the Sainz de Baranda and Laguna stations for the weekend of August 22 and 23, 2026. The closure is necessary to facilitate automation works intended to make the Circular line the first fully automated line in the network by 2027. These works involve the installation of platform screen doors and the movement of equipment.

To mitigate the impact on commuters in areas such as Usera, Carabanchel, Arganzuela, and Plaza Elíptica, the EMT is deploying a free special shuttle service (S6). The shuttle will run with frequencies between 8 and 13 minutes. On Saturday, the service operates from 06:05 to 02:08, while on Sunday, it runs from 06:05 to 23:23. Normal service is expected to resume on Monday, August 24.

In Lebrija, the educational leisure program ‘Soletes en la Luna’ is concluding its summer session. The final event will take place on Thursday, August 20, from 20:30 to 22:30 at the Plaza Andrés García Alcón playground. The initiative, part of the ‘Lebrija Educa’ plan, has provided free outdoor activities for children and families across various neighborhoods throughout July and August.
