Spain weather forecast: Atlantic storm to bring rain and cooler temperatures

Spain is preparing for a significant shift in weather patterns as an Atlantic storm approaches the peninsula. While much of the country has experienced summer-like temperatures well into late September, meteorological models indicate a major change starting this Sunday.

A deep low-pressure system, potentially undergoing explosive cyclogenesis between Monday and Tuesday, is expected to bring successive fronts, increased wind, and a notable drop in temperatures. In Andalusia, temperatures are forecast to fall sharply from highs near 40 degrees Celsius to approximately 31 degrees in cities like Seville and Córdoba. Rainfall probabilities vary by region, with Málaga seeing a 65% chance of precipitation.

Other regions will experience varying conditions. Lleida expects high temperatures between 28 and 32 degrees with possible storms by late September. Madrid is expected to remain warmer, with maximums staying near 30 to 33 degrees despite increased cloud cover. Various other locations, including A Estrada and Quintana de la Serena, will see a mix of high temperatures and cloud cover before the broader weather shift takes hold.
