Romania weather forecast: Polar air mass to bring sudden temperature drop

Romania is facing a significant weather transition as a polar air mass approaches, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures. According to the National Meteorological Administration (ANM), temperatures could decrease by 10 to 15 degrees Celsius within a few days, particularly affecting the northern and central regions. The most intense cooling is expected around September 23.

In addition to the cold, meteorologists warn of increased atmospheric instability. High-altitude areas may experience mixed precipitation, including sleet and snow, accompanied by strong wind gusts exceeding 70-80 km/h. Some regions may also see thunderstorms and hail, particularly in mountainous zones and parts of Moldova.

Following this cold spell, the forecast for early October suggests a gradual warming trend, especially in the western parts of the country, where temperatures may rise above seasonal norms. Precipitation levels are expected to fluctuate, with deficits likely in mountainous areas during late September.
