Weather forecasts predict rain and wind for Maldives and Latvia

The Maldives Meteorological Service has forecasted adverse weather conditions through the upcoming weekend. Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected to affect the northern and central atolls, with wind gusts potentially reaching 40 mph. Seas in these regions may reach wave heights of four to seven feet. Authorities, including the Maldives National Defense Force and Maldives Police Service, have advised the public to avoid unnecessary maritime travel during these periods of rough seas. Conditions are expected to improve starting Sunday.

In Latvia, the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre reports that rain clouds and gusty winds will persist through the end of the week. Coastal areas may experience wind gusts of up to 18 m/s. However, an approaching anticyclone is expected to bring drier, sunnier weather and higher temperatures starting Sunday, with daytime highs reaching up to 20°C during the first half of the following week.
