Weather forecasts predict thunderstorms and fog across US regions

Varied weather patterns are expected across different regions of the United States heading into the Labor Day weekend.

In the Northland region, including parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan's Upper Peninsula, warmer temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s are expected Saturday. However, thunderstorms are forecast to return Sunday, with some potentially becoming severe in north-central Minnesota. A strong low-pressure system moving through on Labor Day and Tuesday may bring widespread rain and wind gusts up to 40 mph.

In the Northeast, dense fog is impacting visibility in some areas, though sunshine is expected to lift the fog by mid-morning. Temperatures are projected to reach the low to mid 80s this afternoon. The weekend will see building clouds and scattered afternoon showers, followed by a cooler and mainly dry Labor Day.
