Cyprus heat reaches 36 °C with showers and thunderstorms
The Cyprus Meteorological Service forecasts temperatures climbing to around 36 °C in interior areas, with coastal highs near 30 °C. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, some producing hail, are expected across the island today, especially in mountainous and inland regions. Winds will shift from south‑west to north‑west, ranging from 3 to 5 Beaufort, with the sea turning from generally calm to occasionally rough in western and south‑west sectors.
A similar pattern is forecast for parts of Greece, where central and eastern Macedonia, Thrace, Thessaly and several islands may see brief rain showers and isolated thunderstorms, also with temperatures up to 36 °C. Winds will vary between 2 and 6 Beaufort depending on the area. The weekend outlook for both Cyprus and the listed Greek regions remains largely clear and sunny.
