Weather risks prompt livestock precautions in Paraguay and real estate alerts in Peru

In Paraguay, the livestock sector is implementing preventive measures to mitigate the impact of forecasted heavy rains and flooding. Mario Apodaca, Vice President of the Asociación Rural del Paraguay (ARP), has advised producers to organize herds and move animals to higher ground, particularly for those with calves or cows near calving. Vulnerable areas identified include Ñeembucú, Bajo Chaco, Presidente Hayes, and Alto Paraguay. The ARP is emphasizing support for small-scale producers, who often have fewer resources to manage such weather events.

In Peru, Indecopi has issued an alert regarding real estate projects located in high-risk zones due to rains associated with El Niño. The agency warned developers must provide clear and truthful information about land conditions. In the Piura region, where many complaints are concentrated, Indecopi noted that consumers have reported construction flaws and a lack of transparency regarding flood risks. The agency reminded buyers that they can invoke legal guarantees, including a minimum 10-year structural warranty, if properties suffer damage from flooding.
