Weather shift expected in Spain as heat gives way to potential storms
Spain is experiencing unseasonably warm temperatures in mid-October, though a significant weather shift is expected by the weekend. In Barcelona, temperatures are expected to reach between 25°C and 28°C, with tropical minimums in the city center.
However, meteorologists warn that this summer-like weather may be short-lived. A high-altitude cold air mass is expected to arrive early this weekend, potentially bringing autumn conditions and rain.
In Mallorca, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) is monitoring a potential DANA (isolated depression in high levels) forming over France. This phenomenon could bring heavy rainfall and strong wind gusts to the island by Sunday, October 18. If this weather system develops, maximum temperatures in Mallorca are expected to drop significantly, falling by approximately 5°C to reach between 19°C and 21°C.
