Weather warnings issued for Australia and Saudi Arabia
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecasted cool and wet conditions for the October long weekend in Australia. A low-pressure trough is expected to arrive in Canberra by Friday, bringing unsettled weather, rain, and a risk of thunderstorms to the ACT and southeast New South Wales. Temperatures in Canberra are expected to drop from the mid-20s to the high teens, with overnight lows reaching 5 degrees Celsius. Heavy rainfall is anticipated overnight into Saturday, with approximately 15 to 30 millimetres expected in the Canberra region.
In Saudi Arabia, the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has issued warnings for dust storms, strong winds, and reduced visibility in parts of the Riyadh region. The Kingdom is also experiencing continued thunderstorms, with moderate to heavy rainfall forecast for the Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah regions. The NCM warned that these storms could lead to flash floods, hail, and gusty winds. This weather pattern aligns with a forecast for a wetter-than-average autumn, with October expected to be the peak of the rainy season.
