Webuild addresses rising costs for Italian railway projects

Webuild has issued a statement regarding the increasing costs of public railway infrastructure projects in Italy, specifically citing the Terzo Valico project. Luigi Vianello, Webuild VP of Corporate Identity, Communication, and Institutional Affairs, noted that external factors have driven up expenses.

Key drivers for the cost increases include unexpected geological conditions at the Terzo Valico site, which necessitated changes in excavation techniques, and a significant rise in the prices of raw materials and energy. These price hikes affected contracts signed prior to the macroeconomic and geopolitical shifts.

Webuild, acting through the Cociv consortium, emphasized that public investments fund works for the benefit of citizens and support the entire supply chain, from suppliers to subcontractors. The company stated it is continuing discussions with Rfi and relevant institutions to ensure the delivery of these strategic infrastructures.
