Webuild completes new overpass for Ragusa-Catania highway
Webuild has successfully completed the nighttime launching of a new 42-meter single-span overpass in Contrada Gerardo, located within the territory of Chiaramonte Gulfi. This operation is part of the first lot of the new Ragusa-Catania highway project, commissioned by Anas.
The new structure is built from a combination of steel and concrete and features a roadway width exceeding 10 meters. The broader Lotto 1 project covers approximately 18 kilometers of four-lane infrastructure, including the 300-meter Vallone delle Coste viaduct and the implementation of Smart Road technologies for digital network management.
Once the highway is fully operational, it is expected to reduce travel times between Ragusa and Catania by up to 40%. The construction of Lotto 1 has significant local economic impact, involving roughly 600 workers and 400 companies within the supply chain.
