Webuild defends Cociv consortium regarding Terzo Valico project

Webuild has issued a statement regarding the Terzo Valico railway project and employment stability at its construction sites. The company clarified that current challenges do not stem from failures within the Cociv consortium, but rather from unpaid credits and uninstructed project variations from the client, RFI.

According to Webuild, RFI has outstanding payments for completed works and expired invoices. This situation aligns with recent comments from Minister Salvini, who noted a funding gap of over 20 billion euros required to complete ongoing public works, with approximately 8 billion euros deemed urgent to prevent work stoppages across various Italian construction sites.

Webuild emphasized its commitment to workers, supply chain companies, and the affected territories. The company is continuing discussions with unions and institutions, seeking a rapid resolution to allow for the resumption of activities and the timely completion of the infrastructure.
