WEC Lines expands maritime service between Southern Spain and Northwest Europe

WEC Lines has announced the expansion of its ISS service, now renamed ISS-PT, to enhance connections between Southern Spain and Northwest Europe. Starting September 10, the weekly short sea service will utilize a transshipment hub in Setúbal, Portugal, to provide a sustainable alternative to long-distance road transport.

The ISS-PT service connects several Spanish ports, including Valencia, Alicante, Cartagena, Almería, Málaga, Gibraltar, Huelva, and Cádiz, as well as Nador in Morocco, to the Portuguese ports of Setúbal and Sines. Through the Setúbal hub, cargo can be transferred to WEC Lines services heading to various Northwest European destinations such as Thamesport, Liverpool, Dublin, Montoir, Antwerp, Moerdijk, Rotterdam, and Hamburg.

The service is operated by two dedicated 868-TEU vessels on a 14-day rotation. To accommodate diverse cargo needs, the company is providing 45ft HCPW and 40/45ft reefer containers for frozen and perishable goods.
