WECARS ordered to pay damages for selling non-compliant vehicle
The Matsuyama District Court Saijo Branch has ordered WECARS to pay approximately 270,000 yen in damages to a customer. The ruling follows a case where a man purchased a Maserati from the WECARS Saijo store, only to discover two weeks after delivery that the vehicle's muffler did not meet safety standards for vehicle inspections.
The plaintiff had originally sought approximately 2.9 million yen for repair costs and emotional distress. However, the court recognized a breach of contract, stating that the seller has an obligation to deliver a vehicle that complies with inspection standards, and ordered the payment of 270,000 yen. This legal issue arises only two months after WECARS succeeded the business operations of the former Big Motor.
