Wedding gift expectations spark discussion among godparents

A discussion within a Facebook wedding organization group has highlighted the rising costs and changing expectations regarding wedding gifts from godparents (kumovi) in Croatia. Due to the increasing expense of wedding services, guests and godparents are facing uncertainty about appropriate monetary contributions.

Group members reported that cash gifts in envelopes typically range from 300 to 1,500 euros. Many participants emphasized that the amount should depend on individual financial capabilities, noting that friendship should remain the priority over monetary value. Some contributors also mentioned providing additional gifts, such as jewelry, cakes, or other sentimental items, alongside the cash contribution.
