Wedge-tailed eagle released after rehabilitation and bird flu vaccine
A wedge-tailed eagle has been released back into the wild on the South Coast following a six-month rehabilitation period. The bird was initially injured in a hit-and-run incident near the intersection of Kameruka Lane and Candelo-Wolumla Road in Toothdale.
During its recovery, the eagle received a landmark bird flu vaccine. The rescue was facilitated by WIRES volunteers, including Danny Lett and Michelle Thiemann, who located and secured the bird after reports of it being struck by a vehicle.
