Poland road, tram and water works disrupt commuters in July

Major infrastructure projects across Poland are causing temporary traffic and utility disruptions this July. In Warsaw, a weekend closure of the Aleje Jerozolimskie between Plac Zawiszy and Sokołowskiego Grzymały will force drivers onto detours on Grójecka, Kopińska and a new lane on Grójecka, with the road reopening on Monday morning.

In Olsztyn, the Limanowski viaduct will undergo a four‑month renovation starting 27 July; traffic will be reduced to a single lane but the bridge will remain open, with the contract valued at nearly 1.5 million złoty awarded to STRABAG.

Warsaw’s P&R Bronowice area will see the south‑east connector fully closed from 18‑29 July, altering dozens of bus routes and imposing detours.

Katowice opened the new Bagienna viaduct on 17 July, allowing two‑lane traffic, while the Lwowska street beneath the railway viaduct will be closed from 18 July for a multi‑year reconstruction.

Poznań’s tram network faces extensive changes from 18 July, with tunnel works on the Franowo line, traction‑system installation at the Wierzbięcice node, and street works on Kraszewskiego, causing temporary line suspensions and rerouted services.

Finally, residents of Pruszków, Piastów, Brwinów and Michałowice will be without hot water from 1‑5 August while the Pruszków heat plant undergoes upgrades to a new biomass installation.
