NASA highlights September 2026 celestial events

NASA and other astronomical observations highlight several significant celestial events scheduled for September 2026.

From September 14 to 20, the Moon can serve as a guide to locate the star Antares and the Teapot asterism in the Sagittarius constellation. Under dark skies, observers may also see the center of the Milky Way galaxy. On September 18, Venus is expected to reach its peak brilliance for the evening, appearing as a bright point of light in the western sky shortly after sunset.

The September equinox will occur on September 22, marking the transition to autumn in the Northern Hemisphere and spring in the Southern Hemisphere. The month concludes with the Harvest Moon on September 26, which will appear near Saturn and Neptune. In India, this full moon also coincides with the start of Pitru Paksha, a period for honoring ancestors.
