Weert and Nederweert fair coin initiative supports 1,000 children

The annual fair coin initiative has provided more than 1,000 children from low-income families in Weert and Nederweert the opportunity to attend the local fair. Now in its third year, the program allows children who might otherwise be unable to participate to enjoy the region's largest event.

This year, the initiative expanded to include families from the municipality of Nederweert, supported by the ongoing cooperation between Weert and Nederweert in poverty reduction and debt relief. The expansion, organized in consultation with sponsor Ronde Tafel Weert, allowed an additional 150 children to be supported.

In addition to distributing coins, the program includes a financial awareness component. Approximately 300 coins are available for youth to win by participating in a quiz about money matters during the fair, aiming to promote financial literacy in a playful manner.
