Weert kermis 2026 launches as Limburg's biggest city fair

From 25 to 30 September 2026 the town of Weert in the Dutch province of Limburg will host its annual kermis, promoted as the largest city‑carnival in the region. The six‑day event will feature more than 130 rides and attractions, food stalls, live entertainment and special activities for families. Recognised as intangible cultural heritage since 2022, the fair celebrates over 130 years of local tradition and involves schools, businesses and volunteer groups in its planning.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for Friday 25 September at 19:00 on the Markt, followed by a prize‑giving ceremony on Monday 28 September. Organisers aim to expand the fair each year, adding new ideas and programmes to keep the celebration fresh and appealing to both residents and visitors from neighbouring areas.
