Weezer guitarist confirms band film is complete for 2027 release

Weezer guitarist Brian Bell has confirmed that the band's film project is complete and is scheduled for a theatrical release in 2027. Bell shared the news during an interview with Alt 98.7 radio at the premiere of Green Day's film, Nimrods.

While specific details regarding the plot, format, and cast remain undisclosed, the project was previously teased by frontman Rivers Cuomo during a performance at Coachella. Although rumors have circulated regarding potential appearances by actors such as Jack Black or Keanu Reeves, these have not been officially confirmed. The film's tone has been described by some reports as a blend of 'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World' and 'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story'.

This announcement comes alongside other upcoming projects for the Los Angeles-based band, including a world tour for 2026/2027 and the release of their 20th studio album, 'The Gold Album'.
