WEG celebrates 65 years of industrial growth and digital evolution
The Brazilian multinational WEG is celebrating 65 years of operation, marking its deep integration into the social and economic fabric of Jaraguá do Sul, Santa Catarina. The company, which was founded in 1961, has earned the affectionate nickname ‘mamãe WEG’ (Mother WEG) from local residents due to its multi-generational impact on families in the region.
Currently, WEG employs over 50,000 people globally, with industrial operations in 18 countries and a commercial presence in more than 135. In the Jaraguá do Sul and Guaramirim area, approximately 15,000 employees work at the company’s units and administrative headquarters.
Looking toward the future, the company is focusing on digital transformation and the integration of artificial intelligence into its industrial processes. Key strategic areas include the development of autonomous and intelligent machines, real-time energy optimization, and supporting the global energy transition through solar and wind power, electric mobility, and smart grids.
