WEG expands operations in Santa Catarina with new factory and training initiatives

The municipality of Guaramirim has begun construction on a new 1.2-kilometer access road to support a massive R$ 1 billion industrial complex by WEG. The project, which involves an initial investment of approximately R$ 4 million, has received land clearing permits and authorization from the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT).

The new facility, located in the Poço Grande neighborhood, will span 35,000 square meters and focus on the production of compensators, turbo generators, high-speed motors, and new lines of hydraulic turbines and generators. The expansion is expected to create roughly 1,000 direct jobs and 3,000 indirect jobs, with operations projected to begin in 2028.

In related workforce development, WEG and Senai/SC have graduated 313 young apprentices in industrial learning for 2026. These training programs, conducted at the CentroWEG in Jaraguá do Sul, aim to prepare professionals for the Santa Catarina industrial sector. Currently, 700 students are enrolled in these partnership courses.
