Wei Chuan Dragons sign nine players from 2026 CPBL draft

The Wei Chuan Dragons have announced the signing results of their 2026 CPBL mid-season draft, securing nine new players to bolster their roster. The standout signing is first-round pick Liao Yung-chuan, an outfielder from Nanhua University. Liao received a total package of up to 7.1 million TWD, consisting of a 5.7 million TWD signing bonus and up to 1.4 million TWD in incentives. Liao is noted for his dual-threat potential, having demonstrated both hitting power and pitching capabilities with a fastball reaching 153 km/h.

Other notable draft signings include second-round pitcher Huang Yu-ju with a total package of up to 5.3 million TWD, and third-round left-handed pitcher Li Song-rui. The team also signed several players in subsequent rounds, including Fu Zhen-hong, Hsu Feng-ying, Li Cheng-jun, Huang Tzu-rui, and Hong Jia-en. Additionally, the Dragons have signed catcher Lin Pin-hao from the Tainan City amateur team via a developmental contract to increase depth at the position.

Dragons manager Ding Chung-wei welcomed the newcomers, emphasizing that joining a professional team is not a final goal but the beginning of a new stage. He encouraged the rookies to maintain ambition and discipline to grow through the team's development system.
