Weiden city releases updated qualified rent index

The German city of Weiden has published its first updated qualified rent index (Mietspiegel). The new index is applied retroactively from 10 June 2026 and will remain in force for two years. It is compiled on a voluntary basis, even though qualified rent indexes are mandatory only for municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants.

The index is calculated according to legal guidelines and is intended to give tenants and landlords reliable guidance on the local comparative rent level, thereby increasing transparency in the Weiden housing market.
