Weiden hosts inaugural Day of the Cemetery at Waldfriedhof

The city of Weiden hosted its first “Day of the Cemetery” at the Waldfriedhof Weiden on September 20. Participating in the nationwide event under the motto “Cemeteries: Oases of Nature – Care for the Soul,” the event aimed to integrate the cemetery into city society as a place of memory, history, and natural space.

Mayor Dr. Benjamin Zeitler opened the afternoon, which featured 13 exhibitors and contributors, including gardeners, stonemasons, hospice services, and local churches. The event focused on dialogue rather than sales, allowing visitors to engage with professionals regarding burial forms, grave design, and grief support to reduce social taboos surrounding death.
