Weiden to hold elections for district spokespersons

The city of Weiden is implementing measures to strengthen direct citizen participation in the districts of Neunkirchen and Muglhof. Through upcoming district assemblies in September and October, residents will elect a district spokesperson (Ortssprecher) for each area.

These representatives will serve as a link between the local population and the city council. The process is permitted under Article 60a of the Bavarian Municipal Code for districts that were formerly independent municipalities and currently lack direct representation in the city council. This allows residents to better integrate their interests into the city's political decision-making processes.

The assembly for Neunkirchen is scheduled for September 24, while the Muglhof assembly will take place on October 7. Elections will be conducted via secret ballot to ensure independent decision-making.
