Weight loss injections cause financial strain in Romania

The rising use of weight loss injections in Romania is creating significant financial strain for many individuals. Monthly costs for these treatments can range from approximately 1,000 lei to over 2,200 lei, depending on the prescribed dosage. To manage these expenses, some patients are resorting to bank loans, personal savings, or even sharing doses with others.

Medical professionals have issued warnings regarding these cost-cutting measures. They caution that sharing doses, altering prescribed amounts, or abruptly stopping treatment can lead to adverse health effects and rapid weight regain. These medications are currently not covered by state reimbursement.

Influencer Andreea Popescu has also shared her experience with the treatment. After using injections to lose weight and undergoing aesthetic surgeries to remove excess skin, she announced that she has successfully maintained her weight of 52 kilograms naturally for three months without the use of injections.
